VTT Update Jan 2016

What is your role in NoHoW?

VTT VTT’s main responsibility in NoHoW is the technical implementation of the NoHoW Toolkit, which is a web-based service for weight loss maintenance. VTT will also participate in the design of the evaluations of the Toolkit, especially contributing to the user experience evaluations and usage analyses of the Toolkit.

What have you done so far?

We have focused on the technical development of the NoHoW Toolkit, working closely with University of Lisboa and University of Coimbra on converting the content descriptions into technical specifications and with JHI in setting up the technical infrastructure for the Toolkit. As part of the technical development, we have also worked on user interface design and developed and user tested persuasive concepts for presenting the weight loss maintenance journey to the users.

We have also designed, in collaboration with University of Derby, the feasibility study of the NoHoW Toolkit, which will be conducted in January-February 2016. The feasibility study will be conducted with the first version of the Toolkit with the aim of evaluating its technical functioning, usability, and user acceptance and identifying needs for future development of the Toolkit.

How will your work in NoHoW have an impact?

The weight loss maintenance programs will be provided through the NoHoW Toolkit during an 18-month study period, which makes the Toolkit the central element of the project, both for the researchers evaluating the effectiveness of different weight loss maintenance techniques and for the participants of the trial. Thus, the implementation of the NoHoW Toolkit will have a large impact on the results of the entire project.
